FUSINBUL consortium has delivered the first set of full scale pressure bulkheads made in preimpregnated carbon fiber material inside of REG IADP Fuselage Demonstrator of LEONARDO Aircraft with Fidamc, Metitalia and Sertec

In the framework of the Clean Sky 2 European project, a new milestone has been accomplished successfully; the first two pressure bulkheads, manufactured by a cobonding process of precured omegas and fresh skin in  preimpregnated carbon fiber with a dimeter of 3.5m, have been delivered at Leonardo facilities to start the final assembly of the on-ground demonstrator.

FUSINBUL consortium has achieved the first bulkhead made by automatic lay-up with preimpregnated carbon fiber material to obtain a full scale pressure bulkhead inside of REG IADP Fuselage Demonstrator of LEONARDO Aircraft with Fidamc, Metitalia and Sertec.

In the framework of the Clean Sky 2 European project; the pressure bulkhead with a dimeter of 3.5m has been manufactured using a cobonding process to integrate the precured omegas with the fresh skin of preimpregnated carbon fiber made by automatic lay-up in AFP machine. This has been an important achievement for Fusinbul project and also for composites technology, obtaining a high dimension structure with good quality results according to aeronautical standards.

FUSINBUL consortium has achieved the first LRI infusion of the skin made by automatic lay-up in dry fiber to obtain a full scale pressure bulkhead inside of REG IADP Fuselage Demonstrator of LEONARDO Aircraft with Fidamc, Metitalia and Sertec.

In the framework of the Clean Sky 2 European project; the infusion of the dry fiber skin with a dimeter of 3.5m,  which will be integrated in the pressure bulkhead, has been accomplished using LRI technology. This has been an important achievement for Fusinbul project and also for the LRI infusion technology, obtaining a high dimension structure with good quality results according to aeronautical standards.

FUSINBUL consortium has achieved the first automatic lay-up in dry fiber of the full scale pressure bulkhead for LRI infusion technology inside of REG IADP Fuselage Demonstrator of LEONARDO Aircraft with FIDAMC, Metitalia and Sertec.

In the framework of the Clean Sky 2 European project; the manufacturing process to carry out the bulkhead in LRI infusion technology has started.

The dry fiber skin with a dimeter of 3.5m,  which will be integrated in the LRI bulkhead, has been automatically lay-up using a Fiber Placement machine. This has been an important achievement for Fusinbul project and also for the infusion technology.

FUSINBUL consortia has finished the manufacturing of the main tooling which will be used to carry out the full scale innovative pressure bulkheads for REG IADP Fuselage Demonstrator of LEONARDO Aircraft with Fidamc, Metitalia and Sertec.

In the framework of the Clean Sky 2 European project; the design and manufacturing of the tooling has been carried out to continue the activities of the project and achieve the final on-ground Demonstrator.

The design of the tooling has taken into account the main needs of the manufacturing processes to carry out the bulkheads in both technologies (prepreg cobonding process in autoclave and LRI infusion process out of autoclave)and the industrial requests of Leonardo.

Innovative tool technologies have been developed and applied, e.g. cast aluminum by lost foam casting, precise but robust indexing system, split and seal system of tool too large to be fabricated one shot then precisely assembled with no gap or step.

Once the tooling drawings have been released, the manufacturing of the tooling has been carried out. Then, the quality control has been completed to achieve the required standards in aeronautical industry. 

The next activities of the project will be the manufacturing of the bulkheads using the two different technologies.
